Picking out the perfect location for your family photos can be one of the more stressful parts about thinking through the details. Sometimes this stops you right there from booking your session. Oh, how that makes my heart sad! Sometimes, the most beautiful locations don't work the best for capturing your family's memories. In fact, some of the least likely spots end up being the most beautiful photographs that make it to the gallery on your wall. I'm talking about parking lots with telephone poles (this happens and trust me). ;)
I'm here to walk you through every step of the way. Right at our planning meeting we'll talk about locations, outfits, and brainstorm what exactly you want to do with those captured images.
Disclaimer: This is a small list that has quickly grown as I continue to explore the Boise and the surrounding areas.
There's nothing like coming into a family's home to document those first few moments with a new baby or even for a mama and me session in the front yard. These sessions are personalized to capture you in your element and I've grown to love the technical challenges I face. Are you worried about your house being too "messy?" I get it. Laundry day is sporadic over at our house, too. We'll talk about which rooms would work best and I'll make sure the hamper is well hidden from my camera.
Downtown meridian and boise
I love how downtown locations add more texture, color, and personality than what's popular these days. When a family has something like this in mind, I love to tell their story with the help of buildings or maybeeeee their first date spot. Downtown Boise has some fantastic alleyways, brick buildings, and bright walls that are fun to explore. Don't be afraid to choose this option if you're looking for an adventure! I ran around with one of my favorite couples at JUMP Boise for that very reason.
Parks and Centers
You most likely won't see me at the more popular parks in town unless there's a special request. I'm all about creativity and seeing what our Treasure Valley has to offer. In Eagle I'm obsessed with Eagle Island State Park and Merrill Park, and in Boise, the walkways behind Shakespeare Festival and MK Nature Center are some of my favorites. Depending on the time of year, we'll catch some colors you'll definitely want displayed in your home.
I'm a foothills gal, I admit it. I choose locations that have trees in the backdrop so the sun can peak through as it's setting. Catching the golden hour is 100% essential and 100% worth the late bedtimes in those long summer days.
Do you have somewhere in mind that's different? I'm always up for scouting locations and trying something new!
When we talk at your first consultation I'll know right away some great ideas that will help tell your family's story. The backdrop only makes it great because you're family is caught on my camera doing what it does best...
